Pictures from our first day out

This picture was taken at Frankfurt Airport during our layover.  Evan was fascinated with all the "goings-on" outside the window.....trucks, buses and planes!!!

We walked about a half an hour down the street to have lunch at TGIFridays.  The weather was beautiful today....upper 40s/low 50s and very sunny.  It was a very enjoyable walk : )

We stopped by at this grocery store on our way back to our apartment after lunch.

Here is a coffee shop just under our apartment.  The two left windows (with the decorative bars) above this coffee shop are our windows.

This is the back side entrance to our apartment.  These apartments are called Botanic Apartments.

Tomorrow morning is our SDA appointment.  We are being picked up around 11am and our appt. time is 12 noon.  We are supposed to get our official referral by the next afternoon, which is Wednesday.  Then we take the overnight train to the region of the orphanage.  The train leaves around 10:30 pm and arrives around 6:30 am.  So we're hoping our first trip to see the kids will be on Thursday!!  We can't wait : )

  1. Billa (right across the street from TGI Fridays) is a great grocery store and the closest thing to a Food Lion or Giant like we know here.

  2. Just an FYI - try to pack some snack foods for you and particularly your little man. Travel in Ukraine does not always allow time to stop for regularly scheduled meals!

  7. Praying your appointment went well.
By the way, try to italian place next to TGIFridays. They have an English menu & it's really good. TGIF was the worst food we've had in our travels to Ukraine!

  9. We stayed in Botanic apartments when we returned to Kiev with Alina. Nice place. But we were on the top floor and the flippin' elevator wouldn't work. It was quite the hike up all those stairs with a 25lb kid and the stroller and whatever bags we had. LOL!

Best of luck as you travel to your kiddo's!
