Pictures of the Princess' Bedroom

Wow, what a job Carey and her friends did on Julia and Regan's bedroom. But before I get to the pictures, I have forgotten to thank someone else for their hard work. You may have noticed the absolutely perfect header at the top of the page. I would like to say I have that sort of creativity, but alas, that is not one of the gifts God gave to me. Anthony, Adeye's husband, put that together for us. What a great job! Thanks, Anthony.

Now for the bedroom. Carey and several of her friends spent several days removing the furniture from the playroom, taking down wall-paper borders, spackling walls, taping, painting, and refurnishing with bedroom furniture. It came out great. Daddy here still needs to hang a few things like a mirror that the princesses can see themselves all dressed up in and a hook to hang their clothes on. But it's almost done!

Here's the doorway in...

Here is the view as you walk in the door...

Here's a look to the right of the bed...

A look to the right nearer the door with Regan doing I am not sure what(there is one of my jobs, hanging that mirror)...

And finally a look to the left...

Regan is very astute and realized the only thing missing in this room. She told me today, "We need to go get Julia now!" I had a tear in my eye after that one.

Sleep well and dream about your family who desperately wants to hold you in their embrace, my little princess...

  3. That looks gorgeous! Well done! I love the little inlet; that's a fab room! And you know butterflies are often associated with Cockayne Syndrome, right? (i.e. see the cockaynesyndrome.net website!)

One question: Where's Regan going to sleep if there's just 1 bed? Are Regan and Julia no longer sharing a room?

  6. Well, the bed situation is still up in the air since we don't know how Julia will be. Our idea is that they will share the bed so that Julia can have that constant contact. We also may be keeping her in a crib in our room. And we can also separate my sons bunk beds, give him the full-size bed, and put the two separate beds in Julia and Regan's room. We will just have to be flexible.

  7. We do think that Julia will most likely be in a crib for some time (in our room), maybe the whole time we have her. But we would like for her to feel like this is her room too, maybe watching Regan play or playing with her. If they are correct that Julia was born early 2008, then Regan is approximately 6 mo. older than her. If she is able to sleep in this room, the bed is a full bed and two little girls could easily share the bed (with bed rails). The physical contact or closeness to another child may be good for her. But maybe it won't.....in which case we would keep her in a crib in our room that our youngest son should move out of by next summer (currently this crib is in Ethan and Evan's room). In the meantime we have a pack and play crib that we will use for her in our room when we first bring her home. This is what we did with all of our babies for the first 6 months. I think all mommies want their babies close in the beginning and I know we will feel the same way about Julia! Lots of juggling around of furniture, but we will make it work : )

  8. It makes my heart sing to see the beautiful room you've prepared for sweet Julia! I love that you have a plan in place, but you're willing to be flexible to provide whatever she needs. How truly blessed you will be to have her in your lives.
